This is Ssserp! He is another in my collection of articulated puppets. He is a worm who considers himself to be a huge and fearsome serpent! The other creatures who leave nearby indulge his high opinion of himself. And while he is quite prideful, he is also very well-mannered and kind. These attributes make him a favorite. And, he is adorable. One afternoon, a hungry bird descends upon the patch of grass that Ssserp loves to explore. The sharp-eyed bird spots Ssserp in an instant and prepares to gobble him up. Ssserp is not frightened in the least. He knows many birds, and they have never tried to eat him. Obviously, this bird does not know who he is. Puffing up his wormy chest and coiling up so that each of his impressive millimeters is on display, Ssserp give the bird a talking-to that has it’s ears ringing. The bird is so amused by the back-talking worm that it start to laugh. This disrespect has Ssserp standing even taller and talking even more sternly. The bird laughs so hard, it falls over. Ssserp, entirely disgusted by the bird’s behavior, sniffs haughtily at the interloper and squiggles away to tell everyone about the unbelievable encounter!
