I have been working on AfroTop for several weeks now. Every loop, I reconsider forking over the cash for a tufting gun. Just me an my Oxford Punch Needles. Despite the grim reality of the subject matter I explore–redlining, enforced isolation, discrimination, violent confrontation, and hatred–the process of creation is meditative and soothing. So is unpicking and reclaiming materials. Two months later and and the rug is completed. Fresh off the frame April 6, 2023. Fiber art is my JAM.
